This is a half day session.
An interactive training session designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of news production and how stories are developed from concept to broadcast.
During the session, attendees will learn how a news running order is structured, what happens inside a production meeting, and how editorial decisions are made under time pressure. Participants will hear directly from a reporter, camera operator and gallery professional, each offering insight into their role and how teams work together to deliver a news programme.
Attendees will then work in small groups to develop a fictional news feature, applying what they’ve learned to plan content, shape an agenda and consider practical production requirements. Each group will pitch their idea back to the industry experts, receiving constructive feedback and guidance on editorial thinking, storytelling and execution.
This practical, collaborative session offers a realistic introduction to newsroom workflows, helping attendees build confidence, understand key roles, and experience the decision-making process behind news production.
